Our Vision

"Where there is no vision, the people perish." Proverbs 29:18a "And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon the tables that he may run that readeth it." Habakkuk 2:2

Sharing the Good News
The vision of Athens Christian Center begins with the call to share the Good News of Jesus Christ (through word and deed) with all people, but specifially with our "neighbors" living in the counties of Calhoun, St. Joe, Branch, and Kalamazoo. From this area, we hope to welcome hundreds of members into the fellowship of our church family.

Creating a Safe Haven Where Needs Are Met
It is our vision to raise up a church where the hurting are healed, the depressed are restored to joy, the frustrated are encouraged, the confused find sense, the sick are healed, and the hopeless find faith. We hope to establish a haven of safety where anyone can find love, acceptance, forgiveness, and friendship.

Training Leaders
We desire to help equip every believer for a powerful ministry by helping them find their gifts and callings from God. It is our vision to train leaders to serve in the Body of Christ who will fulfill their intended role in their family, local church, community, and world. We want to help develop people of integrity and character who will remain faithful to what the Lord has called them to do and who will live in a way that brings honor to God and draws sinners to Christ.

Uniting Families
It is our dream to unite families through Biblical teaching, advising, and role modeling. We hope to build a place where families can come and play together, learn from one another, find encouragement, and share victories and goals.

Using the Arts in the Church
We hold a strong belief that the arts should be used for ministry in the church. Drama, music, dance, and other forms of art will be developed at Athens Christian Center. We will welcome and help train psalmists, artists, musicians, dancers, and dramatists to move within their gifts under the creative anointing of the Lord. We have a heart for missions, and we will send out short-term missions teams to minister in music, drama, preaching, and helps.

Working With Other Ministries
Our vision includes the establishment of great relationships with other churches and ministries in our area. We will make it a priority to unite in common goals and to work hand-in-hand with area ministries. If the need arises, we will also embrace the challenge of beginning new churches in neighboring area.

Establishing a New Facility
The people of Athens Christian Center will move forward in establishing a regional church in Athens on our 15 acres of wooded land bordering Burr Oak and South Streets. The facility will be beautiful, yet functional. We see it including an auditorium designed for the arts, a center for counseling and prayer, classrooms for Bible study, and a recreation area that will include a full-sized gymnasium. Set in the peaceful, wooded landscape, this facility will help our local body of believers to minister to the total man...spirit, soul, and body.

As Dr. Bob Pierce states, "Most people never see a miracle because they never tackle anything that takes a miracle. God doesn't waste his miracles."
